GDN 2026 conference poster

From June 28 to July 1, 2026, the University of Economics in Katowice (UEKat) hosted the 26th International Scientific Conference "Group Decision and Negotiation" (GDN 2026). This recurring academic conference is co-organized by the INFORMS GDN Section alongside local universities and research institutions worldwide. Scientific leadership for GDN 2026 was provided by Prof. Tomasz Wachowicz (UEKat) and Prof. Danielle Morais (Federal University of Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil), while the program committee was chaired by Prof. Marek Szopa (UEKat) and Prof. Ginger Ke (Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada).

The conference brought together 98 participants from 20 countries, featuring a total of 70 presentations. Three keynote lectures were delivered, including one by the winner of the 2026 INFORMS GDN Section Award, Prof. Roman Słowiński (Poznań University of Technology). The conference was accompanied by side events such as a doctoral consortium, a special session dedicated to the memory of Prof. Melvin Shakun, a conference tour to the Guido Mine, and a Gala Dinner featuring the presentation of awards granted by GDN INFORMS.

New implementation of the BS-TOPSIS approach

The paper presents the implementation of a previously developed tool—Belief Structure TOPSIS—to analyze survey data regarding the acceptance of AI tools in the labor market across European Union countries. Additionally, it proposes extending the stability analysis of the obtained results through automated simulation analysis and the verification of almost stochastic dominance.

About a new way of organizing the learining process in RRL

On April 1, 2026, the scientific article titled "Recurrence mimicking learning: Eliminating sequential rollouts in offline recurrent reinforcement learning" was published in the journal Neurocomputing (and this is no April Fools' joke), presenting an interesting proposal for enhancing the training processes of recurrent neural networks. Authored by Tomasz Witkowski, M.Sc., Prof. Krzysztof Kania, and Prof. Tomasz Wachowicz, the paper demonstrates how to significantly accelerate the development of decision-making tools used in dynamic decision-making problems.

The book summarizes Professor Wachowicz's scientific achievements in the field of negotiation support, focusing on a group of tools based on holistic multi-criteria decision aid. It presents the fundamentals of negotiation analysis, the use of holistic methods within it, and introduces the eNego negotiation support system, which utilizes decision support tools based on the holistic approach.
